Residents of the Frome area invited to attend the event which will provide information about the town's railway bridge refurbishment.
The drop-in session will offer residents the chance to find out more about the refurbishment of North Row railway bridge in Frome and also get a chance to chat with the Network Rail project team who will be able to answer questions regarding the work.
The session will take place on Tuesday the 4th of October from 4pm to 7pm at The Cheese and Grain, Market Yard, Frome. The venue is fully accessible.
The refurbishment work is set to take place during December and will also see vital track maintenance carried out including track renewals which will enable freight to continue to be moved safely and reliably by rail which brings further benefits of reducing congestion on roads as well as reducing carbon emissions.
Network Rail teams will be carrying out preparatory work from the middle of October and the main body of the work will be carried out over the Christmas period from Saturday the 24th of December 2022 to Saturday the 7th of January 2023.
Jack Cleeves, Network Rail's scheme project manager, said: “The work to refurbish North Row bridge and upgrade the track is essential to the continued safe and reliable movement of freight, allowing customers and consumers easy access to goods while reducing carbon emissions.
“Everyone is welcome to come along to our drop-in event; we're looking forward to answering any questions and explaining the benefits of the project.
