Major upgrades to the 's web and app ticketing systems now means booking tickets online is now even easier.

The new East Midlands Railway app, which was developed in partnership with Trainline, allows customers to purchase season tickets with no redirection to the website.

The app is available on the Google Play store or Apple's App Store and helps reduce paper waste.

There is a barcode option which allows customers to buy and store their weekly season ticket as a barcode on their phone instead of having a physical copy.

Other upgrades to the app include a Price Calender providing customers with more choice of tickets alongside a QuickBuy function, which fast tracks through options for customers who already know what ticket they want to buy.

Customers should gain more flexibility while using the app, also having more control of their own account.

Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director for East Midlands Railway, said: “These new features will provide our customers an easier and more convenient way to buy tickets, offering a faster and smoother booking experience.”

Champa Magesh, President of Trainline Partner Solutions, said: “We're delighted to work in partnership with the team at EMR to upgrade their online ticketing systems, and bring them onboard with our latest technology.

“We firmly believe this will make it easier for passengers across the East Midlands to buy their tickets online, which will help attract more people back to travelling by rail.”
