London Transport Museum in Covent Garden has announced the themes for its last two late-night Friday openings for this year to be held on 21st October and 11th November.
The evening openings are the latest special events to be held at the museum this year, including activities during October half term, an interactive installation about climate change, and a ‘Get Wheely Creative' event during May half term.
Elizabeth Line – Friday, 21st October
The theme for Friday, 21st October is the Elizabeth Line, which was originally planned for Friday 9 September but was postponed out of respect following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.
Visitors can travel around a giant map of the Elizabeth Line, and stop off at different stations to enjoy nostalgic games from different decades of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, after who the line is named. Depending on whichever decade you find yourself in, there will be quirky costumed historical characters to lead visitors in games such as hopscotch and Snakes and Ladders, and making wristbands.
During the evening visitors can also:
- Listen to lively short talks that will reveal some secrets of the Elizabeth line, from its historical origins to how the Museum is recording its history for future visitors.
- Take part in a pub-style quiz hosted by Drag Queen Storytime host, The Nightbus where they can test their knowledge about the Elizabeth Line.
- Participate in a challenge to build their own railway station.
- Enjoy time in the Future Engineers gallery where they can simulate driving an Elizabeth Line train and climb explore historic buses, Tube trains, and trams .
- Spend time at the bar enjoying Elizabeth Line-inspired purple margaritas.
- Explore the Museum's galleries and exhibitions, including the award-winning Hidden London exhibition in the Global Gallery.

Electric Late, Friday 11 November
At Electric Late visitors can how electricity is the power that keeps London moving. The museum will allow visitors to enjoy scientific experiments, talks, and creative workshops. They can discover how electricity has shaped London and its transport system from the early days of electric travel to the oyster card revolution, art and design, station architecture, and visions of London's electric future.
During Electric Friday Late visitors can:
- Take part in a lively science show from the Royal Institution's demonstration team and find out what a glowing gherkin has to do with the early days of electric innovation.
- Listen to talks that show how electricity has shaped London's life through exploring everything from the expansion of the London Underground network to art and design, station architecture, and sustainability.
- Get creative in the Electric Play Zone where they can experiment with DIY snap circuits, try their hand at coding, and make something sparky to take away.
- Explore an electricity-themed trail through the Museum galleries, and collect objects on the trail for the chance to win a London Underground Lightbox from the London Transport Museum shop.
Themed drinks will be available throughout the evening, as well as an electronic soundtrack.
