The Chinnor and Railway is holding a special event next Sunday, 2nd October when anyone who is wearing a hat can travel in the railway's open-saloon coaches for just £8 for Adults and Seniors and Children for £1.

The day has been designated as TITFER DAY as Titfer is Cockney rhyming slang for hat, and the offer is open to anyone who brings along or wears any sort of hat next Sunday.

The children's offer of travel for £1 is open to all children aged 3-15 years who take advantage of the Kids-for-a-Quid ticket offer which is restricted to a maximum of two children per Adult or Senior ticket holder; children under 3 years of age go free.

This time of year is generally a good time to visit the railway as there are plenty of seats available. Anyone joining at Chinnor can reserve their seats in advance. To make travellers feel special, boxes of cream teas can be pre-ordered to them yourselves or their whole family.

Boxed Cream Teas can be ordered at the same time as booking travel tickets by pressing “Add to Cart”. The options to purchase Boxed Cream Teas will then be available to select on the next page.

Because of food and hygiene rules, dogs are not allowed in dining carriages.

As an alternative to booking in advance, flexible tickets for unlimited journeys on the day can be booked at either Princes Risborough or Chinnor, and there are sure to be plenty of seats available. For travellers travelling from elsewhere, at Princes Risborough there is a cross-platform interchange with Chiltern Railways whilst at Chinnor there is a large free car park at the station.

Of interest during the journey, there is local wildlife to be spotted, including Muntjac deer, pheasants, and hares, and overhead there are Red Kites to be seen whirling around.

During the journey, the railway's volunteers will make their way through the trains with an at-seat service of tea, coffee, and light refreshments. Travel tickets are valid all day long, so visitors are welcome to make several trips along the line in the unreserved coach.

Visitors should remember to bring along a hat as it's just a bit of fun for everyone. However, if anyone would really prefer wear one or carry one with them, normal fares will apply and be available to purchase at stations on the day.
