On Sunday 2nd October, the is holding is Autumn Gathering to celebrate its founding.

Held by enthusiasts in October 1978 the original gathering had people sharing their love of amazing old items.

Within the next year, the museum officially opened on site of the historic chalk quarries in the South Downs. The museum displayed its collections of industrial and everyday items from the past decades.

The Autumn Gathering has since taken place every first Sunday of October to celebrate the museum's opening, its collections and the work of the volunteers.
