Railway Cable theft in Birmingham – images now released

Do you recognise the men in these pictures? Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the perpetrators.

A substantial amount of cable was stolen from the Chiltern line at in the on Friday the 5th of August. Detectives are investigating the theft and are eager to talk to the men pictured in the photographs as it is believed that they may be able to help with the investigation.

The crime took place in the early hours of the morning at around 2.50am. However, it is believed that the culprits returned to the location at approximately 9.50am.

The cable theft created huge delays for rail services running both to and from and caused for those heading to The Commonwealth Games.

Detectives are asking that anybody who may have witnessed suspicious activity or vehicles in the area or may have any information that would aid the investigation to get in touch.
