Mitsui Rail Capital Europe (MRCE) has added to its fleet of Siemens Mobility's Vectron locomotives with an order for a further 14 Vectron MS multisystem locomotives.
The new order comes on the back an existing contract which will bring its total number of Vectron locomotives up to 147. The new locomotives will operate in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and the Netherlands.
They will be built at Siemens Mobility's factory at Munich-Allach in Germany, and feature maximum power of 6.4MW and a top speed of 160 km/h,. All locomotives will be fitted with the European Train Control System (ETCS) as well as the required national train control systems.
Mitsui Rail Capital Europe (MRCE) is a full-service locomotive leasing company with a fleet of over 300 electric locomotives, which is the biggest fleet of locomotives in Europe passed for cross-border operation.
MRCE is a subsidiary of the Japanese Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and its business model combines both the leasing and managing the maintenance of its locomotives.
In the last few months Siemens Moblity has won orders for 35 Vectrons from SBB Cargo International AG, 100 from Railpool, 20 from rolling stock leasing specialists Akiem, and 50 from DB Cargo AG and DB Bahnbaugruppe GmbH.
