This summer STEAM Museum’s ‘Kids for a Quid’ offer will be available at the Swindon Borough Council owned museum.

Visitors to the museum between the 22nd July and 4th September can gain admission for just £1 each.

To visit with the discount, a time slot needs to be booked in advance on the STEAM Museum website. User can input the amount of tickets required and enter the discount code – K4Q22 at checkout. It is important to note that the discount can only be used as a singular promotion, so no additional offers can be used in conjunction. Tickets can be booked now up until September 4th.

While at the museum, visitors can view three new exhibitions (High Voltage, The Diesel Decades, and Changing trains) that explore the story of the Great Western Railway modernisation.

Visitors can take part in STEM workshops on Wednesdays and Thursdays in August where children can learn about secrets messages and morse code. Another session will give people the chance to build bridges using Polydron construction materials. Sessions such as these will cost an additional £3.50 per person for 30 mins.

Meet the Railway Workers experience will also return, giving visitors guided tours and allowing them to climb aboard some of the locomotives such as No. 6000 King George V. Visitors can do so on the 23rd July, 6th August, 20th August or 3rd September.

Councillor Matty Courtliff, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Heritage, Leisure and Town Centre Experience, said: “We’re delighted to be running our Kids for a Quid offer once again over the school holidays. There is a whole host of engaging exhibitions and experiences for everyone to take part in at STEAM this summer, from museum trails, to guided tours by former railway workers and workshops covering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

“These educational activities bring Swindon’s rich history to life and I would encourage all families to visit STEAM this summer.”
