One of DB Cargo UK's class 60 locomotives, No. 60062, now displays a new livery called “Steel on Steel” that has a striking flame design.
The locomotive carries the new livery to celebrate the important role DB Cargo UK plays in supporting the UK's metal transportation market. One full train load of steel coil can produce over 1,000 new cars or 60,000 white goods.
“Steel on Steel” will be used to move metal products across key routes in the UK, feeding major manufacturing supply chains and transporting steel coil to Wolverhampton Steel Logistics Centre the company's centre of excellence for steel logistics, which covers 11,800m2 with the capacity to store 48,000 tonnes of steel.
This is the latest instalment in the company's “Freight Belongs on Rail” campaign. That has been used to highlight the significance of rail freight to UK PLC and drive an ambitious modal shift growth target from the UK government.
Moving goods by rail makes a major contribution to the economy as it provides safe, sustainable, and innovative logistics solutions for the movement of around £30 billion of essential products around Britain each year, as well as to and from mainland Europe. It also reduces congestion, emissions, and noise on Britain's already crowded road network, removing about 2.9 million HGV movements from the roads each year.

Forget about the livery, it’s all about getting MORE fr8 onto the railway.It,s time DBC resurrected some of their own 60,s and got some more contracts instead of selling them to competitors.
