The has released an urgent appeal after parts of a steam locomotive were stolen.

The theft took place on the 1st July and parts for 34039 Boscastle were stolen from the railways storage.

Safety valves, pins, motion, expansion links, bushes, brake components and pipe work are included in the list of parts stolen.

A full inventory has not been completed, but it is expected that £30,000 of components have been taken and are believed to be destined for scrap.

The Great Central Railway has urged anyone knows scrap merchants to get them to contact the railway if these parts are offered to them.

A reward has been offered by the GCR if these parts are found and returned.

  • I am deeply ashamed, let alone disgusted with what’s happened out there at the Great Central Railway…. I just can’t believe anybody would be so typically stupid enough to even do such a bloody awful thing like that,

My thoughts are with those of the Great Central Railway (in Leicestershire), Hopefully their Appeal should play quite the key part in the Recovery of those Locomotive Parts.

  • These scum are always with us. Alert ALL scrap yards that railway engine parts have been stolen. They have to be disposed of somehow.
