On Friday, 3rd June a new multi-faith area that offers passengers added privacy to pray or meditate opened at station.

Multi-faith areas have been provided at a number of British airports for quite a few years, whilst a number of UK railway stations also have such rooms.

The area provides passengers with the privacy they may require to enjoy a quiet moment to pray, meditate or reflect more easily while they wait for their train or before continuing their onward journey.

It is located between platforms 11 and 15, and anyone wishing to use the area should simply contact a member of station staff who will lead them to the room.

Drew Burns, Station Manager at Glasgow Central station, said: “At a recent team meeting, we were discussing what Glasgow Central needs as a station to be a better place for passengers and one of the suggestions was a multi-faith area.

“Ross Kerr, Shift Station Manager, has worked hard to organise the room very quickly. And we're proud that we can now offer a bit of a reprieve from the hustle and bustle to anyone who would prefer to pray in private or just a quiet space to someone who may be feeling anxious.”
