Ffordd Bleddyn Road is now fully closed to road users, pedestrians and cyclists including a small part of the Taff Trail as work began from Monday the 20th of June.
A section of Ffordd Bleddyn Road was closed to road users back in August 2021 so that improvement work could be completed in order to allow the creation of an under-bridge tunnel.
The tunnel will allow South Wales Metro trains to access the depot site using the existing tracks which are south of Taff's Well Station. Following this closure, a footpath was left open for pedestrians and cyclists to use.
Ford Bleddyn road is now completely closed along with a small section of the Taff Trail with diversions in place until Summer 2023 when the road will be fully open once again.
Diversion route 1 requires pedestrians and cyclists heading Southbound to exit the Taff Trail and join Parish Road and head on to Forest Road. Pedestrians and cyclists will then be able to head South in order to reach Cemetery Road where they can join the junction to Cardiff Road and reach point C on the diversion map.
The diversion route has seen a 6-week improvements programme carried out which ensures its suitability for pedestrians and cyclists. The programme of work has seen a cycle lane created on a section of Cemetery Road, new pedestrian crossing points, improvements to existing footpaths and new signposts. Traffic calming measures have also been installed along Cemetery Road, including speed bumps.
