The 2857 Society has announced that GWR 2-8-0 No. 2857 has been granted a boiler certificate extension.

The boiler extension allows for the locomotive to continue steaming for another six months.

This means that 2857 can be part of the rest of the season at the Severn Valley Railway, where the locomotive is based.

Subject to availability, the Society hopes that 2857 will be available for SVR services, appear at the Autumn Steam Gala, and be available for SVR Santa Specials before the ticket runs out.

The Society is now making plans for an End of Ticket special train, and will then look to planning the overhaul of 2857.
