Plan Ahead: LNER releases advise ahead of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend

LNER is urging customers to plan and make bookings in advance in order to secure seats as the nation prepares to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

(LNER) will be providing services right through the four-day bank holiday from Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th of June 2002. The services are anticipated to be very popular due to the celebrations happening throughout the country to mark the Queen's 70-year reign.

With the Jubilee spirit in mind, LNER will be putting in some special touches which will surprise and delight customers at their stations which will be festooned with Platinum Jubilee bunting. Onboard trains tasty cream tea boxes will be available over the weekend as part of a selection of snacks and refreshments at the Cafe Bar in Standard. First Class customers can enjoy a complimentary array of locally sourced food as part of LNER's new summer menu alongside a delicious Strawberries and Cream popcorn treat to celebrate the occasion.

Claire Ansley, Director of People and Customer Experience at LNER, said: “We're proud to play our part in this historic occasion making sure customers enjoy the best possible experience as they make their journeys along the East Coast route. We are expecting LNER services to be very popular, so we're advising people to plan ahead, reserve their seats and leave plenty of time to reach the station and make their way to the platform.”

Customers are able to book direct with LNER, fee-free using their mobile app and website which also offers a register for live journey updates, the ability to choose seating and earn rewards by signing up for the LNER Perks loyalty scheme.

Part of LNER's Jubilee celebrations sees their proud salute to colleagues from the rail industry who have worked on the Royal Train. A special video which features the stories of an LNER driver, British Transport Police Officer and Network Rail signaller has been shared on the rail operator's social channels and marks their pride in supporting the Queens travel for 70 years. LNER are operating at a 100% timetable at the moment with tickets available to book up to September.
