EMR advises customers to plan ahead if heading to London this weekend

EMR are expecting extremely busy services between Nottingham and London over the weekend of the 28th and 29th of May.

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is advising customers to plan their travel ahead of making their journey leaving themselves plenty of extra time this weekend as services are anticipated to be very busy due to the play-off finals at Wembley on Saturday and Sunday as both teams are on the EMR network.

Saturday the 28th of May will see Mansfield Town play Port Vale for the League Two Play-Off Final with Sunday the 29th of May seeing Nottingham Forest playing Huddersfield Town in the Championship Play-Off Final. It is expected that thousands of fans will be travelling to London on both days.

Alongside planning travel ahead and leaving extra time, customers may wish to consider travelling to Kettering and then travelling via EMR Connect services into London St Pancras. EMR Connect service operates every 30 minutes and features more seating than EMR Intercity services.

EMR will be operating a full timetable over Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of May, with extra carriages added where possible to create further capacity during this busy period.  Extra staff members will also be on hand to assist passengers at key stations.

“We want everyone travelling this weekend to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

“However, it is clear some of our services – particularly in the morning and immediately after the matches – will be very busy. We will be doing everything we can to help those travelling, including providing extra staff at key stations and strengthening services with additional carriages where possible.

“We ask our customers to also take sensible steps to help their journey by planning ahead, leaving extra time and considering slightly different routes for getting to and from London.”
