Tributes pour in as Cumbrian railway photographer dies

Tributes have been shared on social media after the  passing of Jordan Mossom, a well respected and loved railway photographer who lived in West .

Jordan was well known for documentary, landscape and railway photography and was a follower of RailAdvent.

In University, aged 23, he gained a degree at the University of Cumbria in Photography, with his final project called Daytime Disability which documented his life with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is a severe life-threatening muscle-wasting disease.

Despite this, Jordan was a fantastic railway photographer and had a keen eye for a great shot.

Jordan was also known for working hard to raise awareness for the illness.

Breaking the news, Jordan's family shared on Twitter saying “We would like to let Jordan's followers, friends and anyone to have known him that he sadly passed away early this morning. It will be a shock to many of you, but he is now at peace.”

Tweeting about the news, the Appleby Frodingham Railway in Scunthorpe said “So very sad to hear. Jordan had said he hoped to visit our railway and we looked forward to welcoming him. Truly the world seems a little darker with his bright light missing. His posts could always brighten the day and he seems to always finish with a smile.”

Hundreds of messages have been sent on social media, below are just a few of the messages shared on Jordan's Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Gareth on Twitter also said “Jordan was a friend to everyone and someone who could always offer another (often mischievous) perspective. He was a crackin' photographer and great fun to know. I'll miss him very much.”

Jordan's family has also said that updates will be shared in the future regarding his funeral.

  • Thank you for the lovely words, my brother was an inspiration to so many, spreading awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

    He will be dearly missed by us all.
