Steam locomotive 35028 Clan Line will be back in steam on the mainline, and will be in London and Brentford on Friday 8th April 2022.
The Merchant Navy locomotive is on a special railtour with 35028 hauling a Belmond British Pullman railtour on Friday.
The steam locomotive will depart London Victoria at 11:45 and will pass through Kensington Olympia (12:11), Shepherds Bush (12:13), South Acton (12:44), Brentford (13:00), Feltham (13:11), Staines (13:18), Chertsey (13:33), Woking (14:04), Shalford (14:26), Redhill (14:55), East Croydon (15:12), Balham (15:20), Clapham Junction (15:23) and London Victoria at 16:11.

Oh yes! About 15 years ago (what do I know, I’m 77), approx. 23:30 I heard on our grapevine that ‘Clan Line’ was stopping at Chippenham’ for ‘photographs’ en route back to Didcot I think.
Grabbed (eldest grandson) I think he was about 5, and asleep, and drove as fast as possible (31.5 mph of course) and raced to the road at trackside ( with a 6ft open link fence). There she was , at the up platform, hissing gently, in the dark of the night, looking almost menacing as the chassis was black, the platform lights silhouetting her.
She was coupled to a brake van and two Pullman coaches- as much as I could make out in shadow. Ergo, when the lucky Guard blew his whistle (for full time) The Driver’s hand pulled on the big lever (throttle!), Clan Line lurched, picking up the slack in the couplings, just discernible, a deep but almost smothered belch of exhaust, the connecting rods clanked in a muffled way, she gathered speed, another puff – and she was gone into the night. Fantastic.
