The event will take place on the main concourse from 11am to 3pm this Friday the 25th of March and will see the staff of the (WMR) operated station hold both a raffle and fundraising drive.

Visitors can support the victims of the crisis by donating or buying a raffle ticket which includes prizes such as train tickets and shopping vouchers.

Popular Community Radio presenter Dicky Dodd will be at the event to entertain passengers which is also being supported by representatives from , , Midland Metro Alliance and Wolverhampton BID.

Mel Bryett, Wolverhampton station manager, said:

“The whole team at the station have been touched by the events in Ukraine and wanted to do something to show our support and raise money.

“After floating the idea of a fundraising event we have had fantastic support and enthusiasm from across the city and the wider rail industry. I am sure our passengers will join us in giving generously to the cause.”

Alongside the raffle and collections, activities will be held to raise funds and will see WMR team members and special guests undertake challenges in a slime-filmed bathtub which has kindly been provided by Wolverhampton-based Four Ashes Plumbing Supplies.

All funds raised at the event will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal.

The event has been organised after a national announcement was made last week that Ukrainian refugees arriving in Britain will be given free rail travel to their final destination.
