With Mother’s Day just around the corner, why not treat mum to a trip on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway

Mothers day is on Sunday the 27th of March and a fabulous Mothers Day treat can be found at the RH&DR.

Why not give Mum a day she won't forget with not just a trip down the line being pulled by a world-famous steam locomotive but also giving her the chance to drive the train!

The ‘Mums Drive a Train' will take place at Hythe Station and will see lucky mums take control of the regulator, taking the locomotive to the outer station limits under guidance by an experienced driver. The ‘Mum's Drive a Train' will be available to RH&DR ticket holders only and run at the following times:

  • 11:50 – 12:10
  • 12:50 – 1:10
  • 1:50 – 3:10

Mum's experience can be improved further with a visit booked for a Southern Maids Luxury Afternoon Tea at Hythe's Vintage Style Tea Room. Mum can enjoy a cup of tea and a beautiful selection of cakes and sandwiches whilst being able to watch the trains arriving at the Station. The Tea Room's offer something for all the family with a Children's Lunch Box including a choice of a sandwich plus a piece of fruit, bag of crisps and carton of fruit juice.

The options available for mothers day are as follows:

Option 1:

Depart Hythe (CT21 6LD) at 10:30 and enjoy a 1-hour steam hauled trip to . Spend 50 minutes exploring this unique landscape before catching the return train at 12:30 and arriving back at Hythe for 1:45 before heading over to Hythe Tea Room to enjoy a Southern Maid's Luxury Afternoon Tea.

The 10:30 departure from Hythe has the option to upgrade to one of our First Class Carriages.

Option 2:

Depart Hythe (CT21 6LD) at 12:30 and enjoy a 1-hour steam hauled trip to Dungeness. Spend 50 minutes exploring this unique landscape before catching the return train at 2:30 and arriving back at Hythe for 3:45 before heading over to Hythe Tea Room to enjoy a Southern Maid's Luxury Afternoon Tea.
