This weeks book review will look at ‘Second Generation Scottish DMUs by Colin J. H which covers the modern diesel multiple units introduced by British Railways in Scotland and is published by Amberley Publishing.
The book measures in at 16.51cm x 0.76 x 23.37cm, and looks roughly a little bigger than A5 and therefore handy for taking out and about in a bag. The book is made up of 96 pages of content.

The book as the title suggests takes a look at Second Generation DMUs in locations throughout Scotland and also features Carlisle. The book sees excellent coverage from Experimental Class 140's right through to Class 185's which are still running today with TransPennine Express.
The book begins with a detailed introduction before moving on to the next section which is History – Class 150-221 which provides a breakdown of useful information and of the classes featured within the book.
From page 13 to 96 is a treat for DMU fans as it moves into a pictorial format with a clear layout and some wonderful colour shots all with written detail.
The book also contains previously unseen historical and black and white photography.
In summary, this book is an excellent reference source for any fan of DMUs and offers a wonderful array of liveries and classes, making for a thoroughly enjoyable read and taking you through years of history right up to modern day.
