Today, the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust held a members day in Crewe, and thanks to Robert Batty, we have these images to share with you.
Saturday 12th February marked 55 years since 60007 was handed over from British Rail to the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust, and to mark the occasion, the members day was held.
Members were given the opportunity to take photographs of the locomotive and visit the footplate during a guided tour.
Looking complete after its overhaul, the LNER A4 locomotive stood proud over the pit at Locomotive Services Group in Crewe.
The locomotive completed a successful boiler test last month. This new test resets the A4's 10 year boiler certificate, which has currently been held since the last test, which was carried out whilst the boiler was being overhauled at the Llangollen Railway.
Sir Nigel Gresley is due to be run-in at the Severn Valley Railway before mainline tests and an eventual return to mainline service.
As previously confirmed, 60007 is seen in LNER Wartime Black, which this will wear for running in before it is painted in BR Blue.

I saw a Pathe News film dated 1955 on BBC TV recently showing an A4 being tested at Rugby Locomotive Test Centre. Was it 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley ? Does anybody know ?
For a penny you could ride on the footplate with the engineer at Phili yard in county Durham. My dad would take me to see this huge blue firey monster and i have never forgotten the smell of hot steam, smoke and oil. Happy days indeed.
What a magnificent machine. When I was in my teens I would watch this and other A4s blast through Durham Station.
The highlight for me was in November of 1993 seeing it on the Great Central railway but more than that being able to Drive it, the engine I saw in my youth. Nothing could better that.
So delighted to see it back running again.

In the 1948 year i was given this fantastic loco in oo three rail version. It has been rebuilt three times it is now in a glass case on full view .
She never looked as prim and proper when I was on the foot plate Well done to all
It will be great to see this engine back up and running,
It holds a very big piece of my heart due to the fact that this was the engine he drove when he was alive.
He passed away in the early 60’s so I never got to meet him.
Crikey, i vaguely remember seeing SNG in Mirfield Shed around 1967 as an 11yr old. It was inside on the Right hand side and me and my friend climbed in the cab, what an experience looking back.
