Steam Dreams has confirmed to RailAdvent that SR Merchant Navy No. 35028 Clan Line will be hauling Santa Specials and an evening tour from London Victoria this December
Clan Line will haul the special trains on the 14th December, with B1 61306 Mayflower hauling the trains on the 13th, 20th and 22nd December.
Steam Dreams will run the first Santa trips from London in 30 years. Three departures will leave London Victoria at 09:30, 12:00 and 14:15.
In the evening, the Christmas Steam Express takes a tour of South and West London, crossing the River Thames six times in its journey.
A number of other tours will be run by Steam Dreams, taking passengers to Christmas Markets in the run up to the big day.
David Buck, Chairman of Steam Dreams commented: ‘We're delighted to welcome Clan Line to our Christmas roster – the prestigious locomotive always draws crowds and we're so pleased it will be a part of our new Christmas Express journeys.' Buck added ‘With tickets from £35 per adult or a special fare for all four trips for £119 – the trips offer an accessible opportunity to travel with Clan Line on the mainline.'

Dear Mr Holden, I know Clan Line quite well from my time at 72A Exmth jct, I would oil n fettle its underneaths, the parts the public never see, Like all the converteds it had a large con rod and big counterballance up in underneath, so needed to be on the pits to get at it? Its probably got some fancy ball race these days? But back late 50s you would fill with oil, stick your finger in to dispell enough oil to SCREW the corks back firm for its trip up to Salisbury/London wherever?..Throw a cork, Throw the oil!!
