launches two new Advance train tickets, offering customers the chance to enjoy in or Glasgow for less than the price of a gingerbread latte!

The fares come just in time for Christmas shopping, going out for a festive lunch, or even a night out, with passengers able to travel into Edinburgh from just £2.50, or Glasgow from just £3.00.

The new Advance single tickets have been put in place by ScotRail between North Berwick and Edinburgh, and also Ayr and and will bring customers travelling by train a saving of up to 70% when compared with an Anytime Day single ticket.

The new Advance single fares can be booked now, with travel available from Sunday the 12th of December onwards.

The new tickets also work with Kids for a Quid too, which means the whole family can make savings on a day out in the city this Christmas.

The tickets will be available all year round and can be purchased for up to 12 weeks ahead of travel. The tickets will see limited numbers available for each fare, so booking in advance will bring passengers the best discounts.

Tickets can be purchased using ScotRail's usual retail channels, including downloading as an mTicket via the ScotRail app, and the ScotRail website.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said:

“The lead up to Christmas can be difficult with a lot of people feeling the pinch, which is why we've introduced these new Advance fares in time for the festive period, so customers can head into the city for less than a price of a coffee.

“Whether they are heading to the Christmas markets with their family, a night out, or just picking up presents, we hope these new fares will provide customers with excellent value for money and help everyone make the most of the railway over the festive period, and beyond.”
