Tyne and Wear Metro have joined forces with Shields Ferry to provide affordable family travel with free travel for children all day, every day this half term and beyond.
As many as three children age 11 and younger can travel for free when they are travelling with a fare-paying adult.
Metro has already introduced free days out for children when traveling with their parents or grandparents with over 60,000 children benefitting from the generous deal.
Nexus who own and manage Metro want to get behind families and support them this half-term by making it easier and more affordable to reach activities using Metro.
Here is a list of free and fun half-term things to do with kids which can be easily reached using the Tyne and Wear Metro:
Toon trail – Follow the trail in the city centre and complete 8 questions to be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

Big Halloween Pumpkin Trail, featuring 30 giant pumpkin caricatures on pavements. Track all of them using a free app, available on iPhone and Android, called ‘North Tyneside

Fare paying adults have to be aged 18 and over and be holding a valid ticket or validated smart card to benefit from the offer. Children travelling alongside do not need to have a ticket which will also make life a lot easier as well as cheaper.
