Step-free access from street to platform is now available at Underground station following the installation of brand new lifts

Osterley Underground station is located on the Piccadilly line and features two new lifts alongside improved signage providing customers with step-free access from the street to the station platforms. Boarding ramps will also be available to help customers on and off of the train and tactile paving is featured on both platforms.

The two new lifts will enhance access for people in the station with additional mobility needs, heavy luggage or those travelling with children in buggies and will be extremely useful for anyone travelling to or from Heathrow airport via the Piccadilly line.

Following the completion of the work at Osterley brings the total number of step-free stations on the Tube to 89, this is also after the completion and opening of two new step-free stations on the Northern Line Extension at Nine Elms and also Battersea Power Station in September.

Other stations to undergo improvements to become step-free this year include Wimbledon Park, Ickenham, Debden and Amersham.

Work is also ongoing at Harrow-on-the-Hill and Sudbury Hill which will be step-free before the end of the year.

TfL is set to launch a consultation later this year which will give Londoners and disabled public transport users the chance to give feedback on where the next set of step-free improvements through London should be made over the next few years subject to funding.

A turn-up-and-go service is available at all London Underground and Overground stations for any customers requiring assistance with their journey. There is no need for passengers to pre-book assistance as help can be requested at the station. All TfL staff members are trained to support and advise passengers with needs so they can make complete their journeys.
