Special farewell event announced in Loughborough for Black 5 steam locomotive

With the days limited before LMS Black 5 No. 5305 bows out of service pending overhaul, the 5305 Locomotive Association has announced a farewell event this October.

5305's boiler certificate runs out on the 31st October 2021 and will then head for overhaul.

However, before that date comes around, on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th October, the will be holding a ‘Fives Farewell' event.

The Black 5 will be in service all weekend on the steam service, whilst D123 and D6535 are in operation on the diesel service.

Also, there will be an opportunity to see progress on the overhaul of 777 Sir Lamiel.

The 5 will also haul a ‘Storming Stanier Fish and Chips' train on Saturday evening.
