Transport for London is asking runners and spectators to plan ahead for the London Marathon this Sunday as planned closures are taking place on some underground lines.
On the Central line, work is taking place from Queensway to Ealing Broadway and West Ruislip on 2nd and 3rd October 2021. Meanwhile, on the London Overground, there is a planned closure between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction on 3 October 2021.
Changes to services on the Docklands Light Railway will be in place to better support the event, with a special timetable in place until 4 pm with changes to routes and frequencies to support the high number of passengers.
Transport for London are expecting a number of stations along the route to busy including:-
- Cutty Sark (DLR)
- Canada Water (Jubilee and London Overground)
- London Bridge (Jubilee)
- Tower Hill/ Tower Gateway (Circle and DLR)
- Shadwell (DLR)
- Canary Wharf (Jubilee and DLR)
- Westminster (Jubilee, Circle and District)
- St James's Park (Circle and District)
Gareth Powell, Managing Director of Surface Transport at TfL, said: ‘It's exciting to see the return of the London Marathon, creating a vibrant atmosphere across the capital. We'd like to remind those travelling this Sunday to check before they travel and be safe, ensuring you are wearing a face covering at all times whilst on TfL services and maintaining social distancing where possible.'
