A challenging period didn't stop Scotland's Railway meeting their public performance measure over the last month.

During the period 19th September – 16th October 2021 90.0% trains arrived within five minutes of arrival time after completing at schedules stops.

This autumn saw 5% more leaf fall compared to last years; leaves on the line mean delays are caused when drivers have to speed up and brake slower than normal.

Scotland's Railway had more issues affecting the running of trains including staff shortages because of COVID-19 and also anti-social behaviour incidents.

Scotlands' Railway moving annual average now stand at 92.2 % – this figure shows the average over the previous 12 months. This is not the first year Scotland's Railways achieved nine out of ten for arrival times.

Operations Director David Simpson said: “Despite recent challenges, it is encouraging to see more than nine out of ten trains arrive on time across Scotland's Railway.”

“Everyone on Scotland's Railway now needs to focus on continuing to deliver a safe and reliable service for our customers.”

“To help minimise the impact the autumn weather has on our customers' journeys, we're working flat out to keep rails and train wheels clean and quickly address any problems that arise, while making sure that our customers are given good quality information.”
