Following the success of the 2021 calendar by London North Eastern Railway (LNER) a limited edition calendar for 2022 is being launched next month.

The calendar will showcase eight images of LNER locations and destinations along with four images which have been replicated from original LNER heritage poster designs which are in archives at the National Railway Museum in York.

Charlotte Graham from West Yorkshire and Simon Williams from Northumberland are amongst some of the well-known photographers that have taken the new images.

A montage of LNER social media followers’ photos can be seen inside the front cover of the A4 calendar.

Snowy scenes from the Scottish Highlands, historic Durham city skyline and the picturesque Northumberland coastline are amongst the locations on display in the photos.

Ruddocks, a Lincolnshire-based design & printing company, worked in partnership with LNER to create the luxury calendar printed on fully recycled paper (which can be recycled again)

Copies of the LNER 2022 calendar are available from the LNER Shop along with over LNER merchandise, including cookbooks, toys and face coverings. The calendars are priced at £11.99, including postage, and can be pre-ordered now for delivery from late November in time for Christmas presents.

Kate McFerran, Director of Communications at LNER, said: “The second LNER Calendar has been created from the talent of our route’s local photographers as well as celebrating some of our iconic heritage with posters from the archives at the National Railway Museum.”

“Our first calendar proved immensely popular with our customers in 2021 and we’re excited to share the 2022 edition with our loyal customers and fans. Evocative images from the LNER route definitely provide people with the inspiration to fill it with their travel plans for the year ahead whilst enjoying some of our most stunning landscapes.”

“From design through to printing, we’re proud that the 2022 calendar has been created with suppliers right along the LNER route, which is an important part of our responsible business and community investment strategy.”

  • Remote and desolate station, train with competent and reliable team on board, no passengers, only the LNER person out in the cold to ensure the safe arrival [and departure] of the train. We rely on such people, responsible, committed, doing their jobs, which they do.
Probably unappreciated in the main, but full marks for doing it.
