Southern named Operator of the Year at the National Rail Awards

has confirmed that it was named Passenger Operator of the Year at this year's National Rail Awards.

Southern was praised for its efforts, with the judges saying it had ‘evolved into an effective, people-focused business'

Trains were kept running throughout the pandemic, which meant key workers had a safe and reliable way to get to work.

Along with operator award, the Grade II listed station at was named medium station of the year.

Eastbourne has seen new toilets, a new waiting room and step free entrance.

Managing Director Angie Doll said: “I am incredibly delighted to collect this award on behalf of the whole Southern team. We've worked hard over the past years to build customer experience, reliability and reputation, and I'm pleased that our hard work has been recognised. We're determined to improve our service still further for passengers.”
