K1 steam locomotive set for Welsh Highland Railway return this September

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have announced that will be returning to the in September.

Currently, K1 is based at the Statfold Barn Railway and has been since its overhaul was completed.

The announcement comes as the railway prepares to open booking for trains for September, with tickets going on sale on the 10th of August.

The only weekend which currently doesn't have tickets available is the 17th-19th September, which will see the Welsh Highland Railway Society AGM Weekend take place.

Whilst a full event isn't taking place, some extra activities will be held, including the visit of K1.

K1 will be in action over the weekend and there will be opportunities for passengers to ride behind K1.

Spaces will be limited and will be bookable by compartment.

October bookings will open soon, including tickets for Bygones Weekend, which be held on the 8th to 10th October.
