Passengers who use railway station will benefit from an increased number of ticket gates.

Work by and has meant more ticket gates have been installed between platforms 11 and 17.

The extra gates will mean there will be less chance of overcrowding at busy times.

The Department for Transport has funded the work at the station on the new ticket gates.

Wide aisle gates have been made automatic and doubled from four to eight, meaning passengers can use them without needing help from station staff.

Lee Ivor Smith, Greater Anglia's Head of Customer Service, South, said: “Liverpool Street is a busy station which welcomes millions of people every year. These improvements will help reduce crowding during peak times and help customers board trains quicker.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.”

Emma Watson, Network Rail's Liverpool Street Station Manager, said: “All our passengers who use platforms 11-17 will benefit from these additional, more accessible ticket gates.

“This is one of many upgrades that we have implemented with our partners over the past year to help make people's journeys through the station as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We are grateful to our passengers for bearing with us and hope they are pleased with the changes.”

  • All there is for Greater Anglia to do is to start introducing the Class 720 Aventra trains to operate on the West Anglia Main Line and Hertford East branch line. Good to see more extra ticket barriers installed at Liverpool Street.
