Extra services are planned to run between and Scarborough next month, fitting in well with the summer holidays.

The changes come into effect from the 16th August and are as follows:-

  • 15.29 Manchester – Scarborough – daily service
  • 15.34 Scarborough – Manchester – daily service
  • 09.00 Manchester – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only
  • 11.21 Scarborough – York – Saturdays/Sundays only
  • 16.26 York – Scarborough – Saturdays/Sundays only
  • 18.11 Scarborough – Manchester – Saturdays/Sundays only

Commenting on the additional services, Luke Gardner, Long Term Planning Timetable Manager for TransPennine Express said: “Now that the school summer holidays have started, many families will be busy planning days out to keep their little ones entertained and a trip to the seaside is always a firm favourite.

“We are expecting our trains to and from Scarborough to be popular and wanted to introduce some extra services to and from the town to accommodate this. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers onboard and I would encourage people to plan their journeys in advance and book ahead.”

  • This is what LNER should do. Introduce a new service to Scarborough from London King’s Cross. Especially in the summer holidays.

  • Before this Covid19 thing. There was an hourly service daily Liverpool to Scarborough. So this is not the real truth. Merely, a spin on a little bit more of a, service been put back.

Shame on TPE for trying to sell wonderful service, when they are actually providing a pooree service than before Covid-19.

Are they not aware the country is no longer in lockdown at all.
