Ten level crossings in Anglia have been upgraded by Network Rail to help improve safety.
New Miniature Stop Lights (MSLs) will be installed at 90 crossings in the Anglia region during the next 3 years.
Red and green lights along with an audible warning feature in the Miniature Stop Lights.
The red light and auditory warning warn people using the crossing that a train is approaching. The green light shows it is safe to cross quickly at that time.
If the red light stays on after a train passes it notifies the crossing user that another train is approaching.
The new MSL system replaces the stop, look and listen system which relied on the users to decide if it was safe to cross
MSL Systems have been installed in these locations since the project began in March
- North Fambridge
- North Walsham
- Beccles
- St Margarets
- Melton
- East Runton
Ellie Burrows, Network Rail's route director for Anglia, said: “Safety is our top priority and I'm delighted that this project is progressing well. I'd like to thank residents and communities for engaging with us on this, together we're creating a safer railway.”
