Progress update on Corris Railway new build Falcon steam locomotive

The has released an update with the latest progress and activities taking place across the railway.

Locomotives

New build steam locomotive “Falcon” 0-4-2ST No. 10 is progressing very well.

At Maespoeth the buffers have been completed, with volunteers now working on the brake gear.

At Alan Keef Ltd, the motion is also finished, and smokebox door fittings are ready for fitting.

Donations for the new engine are still needed and can be made online via the Corris Railway website at www.corris.co.uk

Carriages

On Sunday 30th of May 2021 a key event took place, with brand new coach No.23 entering service.

This addition to the carriage fleet was much needed, allowing more socially distanced seats to be available for passengers.

Attention now turns to completing carriage No.24 at Maespoeth Junction, where the various wooded panels and pieces are starting to be fitted.

Firstly, the floor was laid, with the team then working on the bodywork.
