The and Eskdale railway have launched new options for passengers visiting during this half term.

New family friendly activities are taking place at the free , with new activity boxes and games for the kids. The changes have been made possible thanks to a Rapid Reopening Grant received from Arts Council England. There are over 3,000 artefacts to explore in the museum.

Picnic lunches are also available for passengers to pre-order for collection on the day of travel, the ‘Fellbites' cafe at Dalegarth railway station is now also fully reopened with options to sit inside.

With the latest changes in lockdown restrictions, it's now possible for two small household groups – or social bubbles using the ‘Rule of Six' – to reunite with family and friends. What better way to meet up than travel in the luxury observation carriage or first-class saloon carriage.

The railway have also produced a ‘Welcome Back Video' and you can pre-book your tickets through their website here.

Rachel Bell, Head of Marketing & Development at Lake District Estates, says, “It's fantastic to be back giving families the days out they've been craving over the past few months. In a year filled with lockdowns, there have been very limited options for passengers to jump on board our new luxury Observation Carriage. But that's now changing, and we're thrilled to be welcoming small private groups of friends and families to make the most of this unique socially distanced experience.

“At the same time, we're making the Ravenglass Railway Museum more interactive and family-friendly than ever before, with new activity boxes, games and even ‘smell' boxes evoking bygone days of steam travel – all of which we can rotate and quarantine to reassure parents around COVD-safety. With free entry, it really is well worth a look for all ages.”
