This June and July, a range of Pioneer services on the will operate between and with a range of diesel locomotives.

On Fridays, The Pioneer runs three times a day from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and return, a total of 96 miles behind your favourite locomotive!

On Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, The Pioneer runs from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth, Bridgnorth to Bewdley, Bewdley to Bridgnorth, Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and Bridgnorth to Kidderminster  – nearly 88 miles in total behind a locomotive.

The locomotive roster for The Pioneer services is as follows:

  • June 6th, Class 42 D821
  • June 11th, Class 50
  • June 13th, Class 50
  • June 18th, Class 17 D8568 & Class 14 D9551
  • June 20th, Class 52 D1015
  • July 11th, Class 52 D1015 & Class 52 D1062

The best advice is to start your day at Kidderminster, but if you do wish to start from Bridgnorth, you can do this, but you would miss the first and last trips of the day.

Tickets are valid all day, so you can ride as little or as much as you want behind your favourite diesel locomotive.

  • Wow, this’ll be Quite Another Highlight of the Year 2021, especially for the Sensationally Versatile, & Well-Restored… Severn Valley Raillway, and it’s fascinating mixed fleet of ex-British Rail Diesels Galore.

I Wish them Good Luck… Hope it’s A Huge Hit of A Diesel-Themed Gala of 2021, even for the SVR itself to look back on within the next number of years.
