Steam locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth to visit Preston this Saturday

Steam locomotive 6201 Princess Elizabeth will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in , and on Saturday 29th May 2021.

The Princess locomotive is on a section of a special railtour with 6201 Princess Elizabeth hauling The Northern Belle.

The tour starts from behind diesel locomotives. Departing York at 07:21, the train will pass through (07:34), (07:54), (07:11), (08:43), (09:10), (09:25), (10:01), Preston (10:16), (10:35) and North Junction at 10:44.

Here, 6201 Princess Elizabeth is added to the train. Departing here at 11:27, the steam train will make its way through (11:43), Tebay (12:00), Penrith North Lakes (12:23) and Carlisle at 12:43.

After around 90 minutes in Carlisle, 6201 will depart at 14:15 and will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (14:43), (15:03), (15:42), (15:54), (16:08), (16:16), (17:08), Langho (17:20), Blackburn (17:34), and Preston (17:55).

Here 6201 Princess Elizabeth is taken off the train and is replaced by diesel locomotives. The tour returns to York via Wigan North Western (18:42), Manchester Victoria (19:24), Huddersfield (20:00), Wakefield Kirkgate (20:25), Leeds (20:44) and York (21:28).

Meanwhile, 6201 Princess Elizabeth will form 5Z18 1832 Preston to Carnforth Steamtown. Departing Preston at 18:32, it will pass through Lancaster (19:29) and Carnforth (19:37) before arriving back at Carnforth Steamtown at 19:57.
