New platform at Upper Halliford, Surrey, means changes to trains from London Waterloo

From next week (Monday 17th May), train services at railway station will be affected by work to install a new platform.

Until early November, trains travelling from London Waterloo towards will not be able to call at the station while Platform 2 is replaced.

The existing concrete platform has come to the end of its life and will be replaced by a brand-new platform.

This means that passengers travelling to Upper Halliford from London Waterloo will either need to travel on to Shepperton and catch a train back to Upper Halliford, or alternatively use a rail replacement bus service from .

Train services towards London Waterloo from Platform 1 will remain in operation, as will the stations ticket machine and footbridge.

's Wessex route director, Mark Killick, said: “We're sorry for the disruption that our Upper Halliford passengers will experience between May and November while we do this vital improvement work. In order for us to continue to provide a safe and reliable service to passengers from the station, it is time for the platform to be replaced with a structure that will serve the community for generations to come. There is never a good time to carry out works of this scale and we're very grateful to those affected and neighbours in the local area for their patience while deliver this upgrade.”

SWR's director of customer experience, Alan Penlington, said: “There is never an ideal time to carry out work like this and we know that this will cause some disruption for our customers. There is a great deal of work to be done if we are to provide a new and improved platform. We are doing all we can to keep our customers moving during these essential works with rail replacement buses in operation throughout. Alternatively, customers can remain on their trains and change at Shepperton for the next service towards London Waterloo. I'd like to thank our customers for their patience during these crucial improvements.”
