Over 100 extra car parking spaces have been added at Grantham Railway station as part of a £1.5m scheme of improvements.
The new car park has been built on former disused land just a short walk from the centre of town.
Improvements have also been made to the station approach, with new crossing points, walking routes, road markings and CCTV.
The street lighting has also been upgraded along with a revamped taxi rank and customer drop off area.
Local suppliers and materials were used where possible for the project.
The new car park has been given a name, Mallard, after the famous steam locomotive which broke the world speed record for steam locomotion near Grantham in 1938.
Customers can use the car park for £5 per day Monday to Friday or for the weekend from Friday to Monday for £12.
As part of LNER's commitment to deliver additional value to the local economy, the dedicated project team has worked with local suppliers and sourced materials from the Lincolnshire region wherever possible.

The 115 new car parking spaces and wider improvements we've made to Station Road, make it much easier for people to choose the train when travelling across the region and beyond.”

Perhaps Grantham should have a bay platform for EMR trains travelling from Nottingham to Skegness via Grantham and in future to Louth if the line to Louth does reopen.
Grantham station needs its platforms completely rebuilding, and it track layout remodelling to increase capacity, and allow fast trains to pass stopping trains. It’s a bottleneck now, and that problem will only increase. We need to take a longterm view on the railways.
