Tomorrow (Saturday 22nd May) the will reopen to passengers after lockdown restrictions ease in Wales

The service this year will be operated by diesel locomotives and will run until the end of October.

2021 is the 125th anniversary of the opening of the line which opened in 1896.

The railway usually takes around 140,000 passengers a year from to the summit of Snowdon on a 4.7-mile journey, however, this year the railway is operating a 2 hour round trip to Clogwyn, which is around 3/4 of the way to the summit.

Due to the various restrictions still in place, the railway ave decided they cannot operate Hafod Eyri, the Summit Visitor Centre, but hope that everything will be eased sufficiently for them to once again operate to the summit in 2022.

Vince Hughes, Commercial Manager at Snowdon Mountain Railway said: “Last year was a challenging year for the tourism sector but with a UK Staycation boom forecast we're looking forward to a successful 2021 season. We're also extremely proud that the railway is entering its 125th year of taking passengers up Snowdon”.
