Work to replace the lift on platform one at Wolverhampton railway station has been completed in a project which cost around £250k.
The work began back in January and the new lift reopened last week.
Staff from the station were on hand during the work to help passengers who needed step-free access complete their journeys.
Over the next three years, £10m is being invested to modernise lifts across the network.
Tom Wadsworth, senior asset engineer for Network Rail, said: “Our refurbishment of the platform 1 lift has improved Wolverhampton station ready for returning passengers as Covid-19 lockdown measures ease.
“I'd like to give a huge thank you to passengers for their patience during the upgrades which will ensure the station remains accessible for everyone for years to come.”
Brenda Lawrence, head of stations for West Midlands Railway, said: “Customers at Wolverhampton are already feeling the benefits of the superb new station building and I am pleased these lift improvements will enhance even more journeys.
“I would like to thank our passengers for bearing with us while the work was carried out and we look forward to welcoming more customers on board soon.”

Maybe Wolverhampton could benefit from having extra platforms including a new platform 0 to be used mainly on Wolverhampton-Shrewsbury and Telford Central services.
