Shed 24H team open opportunity to stay overnight at Hellifield railway station

As staycations are set to continue to be popular in 2021, people can now stay at one of North Yorkshire's most picturesque railway stations.

A two-bedroom holiday let, The Yorkshire Sleeper is now open at after a major restoration project.

Hellifield is served by trains to Carlisle, via the famous Settle to Carlisle line, Leeds via the Aire Valley line (get off at Keighley for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway) and also Morecambe via the Bentham Line, meaning it is the ideal base for anyone wishing to explore the local area.

Major work has been completed on the first-floor apartment by the owners of the popular cafe at the station, .

Two bedrooms, a kitchen, living space and bathroom all feature in the accommodation.

Andy Dean, part of the Shed 24H team, said: “Going on holiday to a railway station, it's the stuff of dreams for some people!”

“We get such a variety of trains passing by each day. We often have steam engines watering here and loads of different diesel-hauled freight comes by too.

“The beauty of the Yorkshire Sleeper is that you can arrive by train and travel on from here by train, you don't need a car to stay with us.”

“The last 12 months have been hard for everyone and we know people are now looking to holiday a little closer to home.”

Prices start from £595 for the week with up to four occupants, bookings can be made via The Yorkshire Sleeper website.

  • What a shame it is too expensive for a single (retired)person to stay for a week and no shorter stays allowed
