The has announced that a man from Hebburn has been jailed for theft and assault following an investigation.

Reece Nixon, aged 24, has been jailed for 9 months after pleading guilty to Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) and theft on Wednesday 21st April 2021 at Newcastle Crown Court.

As part of a separate Northumbria Police Investigation, Reece was sentenced to an additional 15 months prison sentence.

Back on Sunday, 24th April 2019, Reece punched an associate before taking his phone after they both left a train at Metro Station in Jarrow.

The victim attempted to get away via a lift but Reece followed him and continued the assault.

Reece was arrested later that day on suspicion of robbery and during a search of his home, officers found the victims mobile phone.

Investigating officer DC Colin Dore said: “Violence on the railway will not be tolerated. Everyone has the right to travel without fearing for their safety. Hopefully Nixon's sentence will give him time to reflect on the consequences of lashing out and attacking others.”
