Lombardy region will benefit from 20 new Alstom Coradia Stream trains

has announced that they have signed a contract to supply 20 regional trains to Italian operator Ferrovienord.

The contract is worth €125 million and the trains will be manufactured for delivery from June 2023 onwards.

The trains are from Alstom's Coradia Stream range, and have a maximum speed o 160 km/h. Four traction motors supply the power for the single deck electric trains.

The new trains for the Lombardy region will be manufactured by Alstom in Italy. Consuming 30% less energy than previous generations, they are also 96% recyclable.

Various options are available for the Coradia Stream, they can be configured with different seating capacities, along with space for cycles and refreshment dispensers.

In the last 10 years, Alstom has delivered 54 regional trains for Lombardy. The new generation of Coradia Stream represents the best solution for meeting the increasing needs of both the region's travellers and the operator,” said Michele Viale, Managing Director of Alstom Italy.
