Network Rail are asking passengers to plan their journey in advance as work is due to take place on the Great Eastern Main Line and Southend lines early next month.
Track renewal work will take place on the Southend Victoria line at Billericay and on the Great Eastern mainline at Stratford.
The work will take place between Saturday 1st May and Monday 3rd May.
At the same time, footbridge strengthening work will take place at Brentwood, Chadwell Heath and Seven Kings.
Overhead wire work will also be carried out on the London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness line.
London Liverpool Street station will have work carried out to platforms 16 and 17. This is preparation work for full-length Elizabeth line trains due to be introduced later this year.
Following on from these projects, further work is taking place the following weekend on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May.
This involves track renewal work at Ingatestone on the line between London and Norwich and on the Southend Victoria branch at Wickford. Work is also taking place at Gidea Park, Romford and Stratford.
Train services will be amended as follows:-
Greater Anglia services between London and Norwich and London Southend Victoria will be affected between 1st and 3rd May and 8th to 9th May. Rail replacement services will run so please check the Greater Anglia website for full details.
c2c services will be affected between 1st and 3rd May, with more details on the c2c website.
Tf services will be affected on 1st to 3rd May, and 8th / 9th May with no services between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield with replacement buses in operation. Passengers could use Central line services between London Liverpool Street and Stratford / Newbury Park. Full details are on the TfL website.
Ellie Burrows, Network Rail's route director said: “We've carried out a programme of works over the Easter period to maintain safety and improve reliability across the network and will continue with these vital upgrades over the May bank holiday to make improvements for our passengers.
“I'd like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out these upgrades and ask that anyone travelling over these weekends to check how their journey might be affected.”
Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia managing director, said: “These projects will help to improve punctuality and performance along these vital parts of our network.
“We will be running a rail replacement bus service while the work takes place, so customers will be able to complete their journeys. Passengers should check before they travel, allow more time for their journey and wear a face covering when travelling by train or rail replacement bus and at our stations. Greater Anglia has several measures in place to keep customers safe, from regular cleaning and sanitisation of trains and stations, to making it easier for customers to socially distance.

Glad that Network Rail are finishing off with the overhead line replacements at Stratford and at Prittlewell-Southend Victoria. They should do parts of the c2c line between Fenchurch Street-Bromley-by-Bow-West Ham and between Ardwick-Hadfield and Gosslop in Greater Manchester.
With electrification to Stalybridge and possibly to Leeds via Huddersfield. And overhead line electrification between Kettering-Market Harborough in Northamptonshire on the Midland Main Line.
I’m willing to bet that Greater Anglia will do their usual trick of overcharging passengers to route via Ely instead of quoting a lesser price to use GEML route with replacement bus.
On previous occasions the difference was £15 more for a single (cheapest advance), and similar on returns.
