The team at have been busy recently to make sure its coaches are all fit for traffic, as well as making sure they are in tip-top condition for passengers.

Currently, the team have turned out 13 Mark 1 coaches, some of which have had full repaints, whilst others have had a deep clean and varnish.

Alongside the deep cleans and repaints, a programme of work is also being carried out thanks to funding from the West Somerset Railway Association (WRSA), who are the supporting body of the WSR.

The aim for the West Somerset Railway is to have three sets of six or seven coaches in different liveries. There will be one maroon set of coaches, one blood and custard set and a set of chocolate and cream coaches.

Finally, the Carriage and Wagon team are busy completing essential winter maintenance to make sure that the coaches are ready for another season of operations.

  • The West Somerset Railway are doing an even splendid job (duty) on Preserving and Refurbishing these ex-BR Passenger Carriages, especially on the line itself.

I still Wish this Wonderfully Spectacular & Terrific Heritage Railway Attraction Good Luck during 2021.
