The South Wales Railcar Group have launched a crowdfunding page as they have plans to repaint their Class 142 Pacer train into heritage Valley Lines livery.
The livery of green, white and red would be to benefit the local community as well as visitors to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway.
142006 is also set to be named in honour of former General Manager of Valley Lines, Tom Clift, who passed away in 2012.
The project to bring 142006 in service with its new name and livery is around £12,000 which will allow The South Wales Railcar Group to have the Pacer professionally painted and also to plan a naming ceremony for the 142.
The South Wales Railcar Group said “With your help we can make it a reality and ensure that the iconic Valley Lines livery can be seen again. It will be the only Class 142 unit to carry authentic Valley Lines livery. As a South Wales history centric tourist attraction it aligns with our ethos to preserve local and national heritage and history for future generations to enjoy.”
