Those who need to travel for work are being asked to check before travelling by this weekend, as there will be work done on the line near Milton Keynes.

Back on Sunday 28th February, Network Rail workers found that some track at a railway junction in the area was damaged.

The junction near , on the West Coast Main Line, needs to be fixed, where one track leads to another track.

Overnight, tonight and on Sunday 7th, work will be done when there will be no trains on the track, so the repairs can be done.

James Dean, Network Rail's West Coast South route director, said: “We're sorry to passengers being impacted by the track fault north of Wolverton. Crossings are heavily used pieces of track and are complex to repair.

“Teams of engineers are preparing to replace the crossing when trains aren't running this weekend. In the meantime, I'd urge anyone travelling to check National Rail Enquiries or with London Northwestern Railway for the latest travel information.”

Northbound, London Northwestern Railway can not serve Wolverton Station until the work has been done.

Between Milton Keynes Central, Wolverton, and Northampton there will be a rail replacement bus to keep passengers moving.

This could lead to longer journeys for people that want to go to Milton Keynes.

Lawrence Bowman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, said: “We thank our customers making essential journeys this week for their patience while Network Rail works to repair the damage to the railway.

“Passengers requiring northbound services from Wolverton are advised to consider travelling from Milton Keynes Central if possible, or to make use of rail replacement transport.”

All the work should be completed this weekend.

Passengers making essential journeys are being advised to check to see how train times are affected.

  • At Roade, Northants south of Northampton where the West Coast Main Line is split with the WCML going northwest towards Rugby and Coventry and the Northampton loop line that goes north towards Northampton and Rugby. I find that interesting on how the 2 lines split just south of Northampton. And there is a deep cutting on both parts of the lines. Whoever designed it must of had such ingenuity.
