As announced last year, the next phase of the redevelopment of Aberdeen railway station is underway.
The £8m project by Scotrail will make changes to the look of the station. Work started at Christmas to conserve, maintain and protect the listed building parts of the station.
The large customer information screens have been removed temporarily and replaced with two smaller screens. Scotrail staff are on hand to help provide customers with additional information.
As part of the works, the first-class lounge and the ticket office will be relocated and more retail space created along with the refurbishment of the existing retail units.
The project is expected to be completed by Winter 2021 and will also include, improvements to the taxi rank and cycle parking facilities.
Improvements will also be made to the station entrance and connectivity with Union Square.
The staff accommodation areas will also be redeveloped as part of the project.
Kirsty Devlin, ScotRail Head of Projects & PMO, said: “This is a really exciting time for rail users in this part of Scotland.
“The £8million investment in Aberdeen station is all part of ScotRail's plan to deliver better facilities and a more modern railway for customers when coronavirus restrictions are lifted and we see passengers returning to the rail network.”
